Keep Your Eyes On Christ

Have you ever had anyone tell you that all you need to do is just look to Jesus when you have a problem and that will solve it. I remember the first time someone told me that. I was having a problem in my life, so I try to conjure up a mental image of Jesus in my mind, picturing my favourite painting of Him. I just kept thinking about this picture. You know, that didn’t seem to help me at all with my problem.

I decided right then that there must be something else I was suppose to focus on about Jesus other than His physical image. I am glad that situation happened to me because it forced me to sit down and think through just what it is that I am supposed to look at when I focus on Jesus.

Firstly, I must see that God loves me unconditionally in Christ.  While I was still a sinner, Christ loved me and died for me.

Secondly, I must believe that God’s forgiveness of my sins covers all of them, past present and future. Jesus’ baptism has taken all my sins and His death on the cross has enabled me to die to my old self and be brought back to life in Christ through His resurrection. He is not holding any of my sins against me.

Thirdly, I must realise that God has a plan for my life and He will take everything that happens to me, whether seemingly good or evil and work it all together for my good. Rom 8:28.

Lastly, I must see that God is utterly faithful and able to keep every promise He had made to me in the Word of God.
