Anointing Breaks The Yoke

Thursday, August 25th, 2016

It shall come to pass in that day
That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his yoke from your neck,
And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil

Isaiah  10:27

The passage above is an exceedingly difficult one to interpret because of its poetical connotations.  What is clear is, that the yoke referred to is the bondage of Assyria laid on the house of David.  The yoke shall be presently removed.  The deep reason for the removal is that in the house of David lies the oil, the anointing oil which is consecrated to Jehovah.  Jehovah will surely deliver those who are in covenant relationship with Him.  Isa 37:35   The passage which best explains the figure of the text above in the NT is found in 1 John 2:27. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will[a] abide in Him.”

This is about the New Covenant that God made to those who believe and abide in the Righteousness of God  that contains Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection. The subject set before is this :  A man’s sanctification to God is a constant consideration shaping the Divine dealings.  Israel was an anointed race, the house of David was an anointed family and therefore for them no calamity could be overwhelming.  All must be subject to gracious Divine mitigation and all must be made remedial in their influence. How does it relate to us now?

  1. To The ‘Anointed’ Burdens And Yokes Must Come

We are not perfect and being perfected by abiding continually in the Gospel of God’s Righteousness.  As such, burdens and yokes are precise and efficient moral agencies in the work of perfecting.  Trials and adversities cause us to depend on the Holy Spirit for leading and guidance.  Our obedience to the Holy Spirit in the process of sanctification enables  God  to fulfill His ultimate intent of making us in the likeness of Christ.

  1. On The ‘Anointed’ Burdens And Yokes Cannot Stay

Burdens and yokes have a definite objective and have limited time to deal in one’s life.  They would become unmitigated and irrelevant agents if they are not removed after their moral purpose had been fulfilled.  They may be applied to all calamities and affliction of life.  The degree, the time and the form are all in strict Divine control.  In fact, all afflictions is but for a moment.  It is corrective in nature and not intended to break the individual.  The release valve of grace will be used if the need arise.

  1. For The ‘Anointed’ There Is Help To Bear Burdens And Yoke

In Isa  43:2  God  promised His children  “When you pass through the waters,  I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow  you.  When  you walk  through  the  fire,  you  shall   not  be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

God encouraged Paul by declaring  “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  2 Cor 12:9.

The Lord is our Salvation and there is nothing to fret.  God Who began a good work in us is faithful and able to bring it to completion according to His perfect will. The Lord is our Helper. God knows how much we can bear and gives us respite in our circumstances.

Conclusion

Dear friends, the anointing that resides within us has the power to break every burden and yoke.  We ought to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus while God leads us through our spiritual journey on earth.  Be rest assured that nothing happens to us without His knowledge  and control.
