Let’s Wage The Spiritual War

Friday, November 18th, 2016

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Tim 4:7

Believers in the righteousness of faith will encounter immense spiritual conflict.  Satan in his role as ‘the god of this age’ conducts a relentless, well planned strategy to blind men’s mind to the Truth found in the Gospel of God’s Righteousness that constitutes Jesus’ baptism and death.  Spiritual immaturity short circuits God’s power to understand what baptism and death of Christ means on a day to day basis. We must be aware of the battle to engage the enemy by appropriating our God given spiritual weapons.

When it comes to the Christian life, we will either gain or lose ground.  We must be involved in the spiritual battle or be knocked down.  Christian life is not a playground but a battle ground.

To wage the spiritual war we need to learn the principle from God’s Word to be more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus.

  1. Put On The Full Armor Of God. Eph 6:10-19

The phrase ‘put on’ carries the idea of doing something once and for all.  It speaks of permanence.  The full armor of God is not something we put on and take off again.  Satan, the arch enemy is always looking for the weakest spot in our defenses.  He moves in our blind spot and steers us in the direction he wants.  Christians must stand for God, covered to the hilt with the full armor of God.  We cannot assemble a self made armor from bits and pieces of determination, grit,  resolve, intelligence or basic goodness.  It is imperative that we allow the Lord to give us His strength.

  1. Satan Is Not The Equal Of God. Col 2:15

Satan would like us to think that whatever God can do, he can do, as though they were two sides of the same force.  Although Satan is powerful spirit being, he is far from God’s Equal. God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.  God can do anything that He wants to do anywhere and anytime.  Satan is none of that.  He has limitations as  to what he can do.   Satan will bluff us as far ashe can.  If we stand on the promise of God and use our authority from the Scriptures, he will respect that authority and flee.

  1. Satan Attacks In The Realm of Legalism. 2 Cor 11:3

It was concerning the teachers of legalism that Paul wrote, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”  For such men are false prophets, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as teachers of Christ. They lead believers to live for God by the principle of the law than Spirit – the first and the worst doctrine of demons.  One of the most successful tactics the demon use in neutralizing Christians is to get them to dwell in all of their failures.  Once they feel guilty about their performance they become Satan’s punching bag.  The awful thing is that it can side track a mature believer as well as a young one.

  1. Satan Works Through The World And The Flesh. Rom 7:6

The ‘world’ refers to the worldly system that is hostile towards God.  It is living for personal gratification and for our own will above all else.  Then there is the flesh that lusts after the things of the world.  The flesh speaks more of the depraved and fallen nature in us which are constantly desiring to gratify sensual appetites.  Some of us are concerned about how to keep all the commands in the Bible.  These commands are simply ‘results’  of the Spirit produced life.  We are only to concern ourselves with walking in the Spirit.   God will concern Himself with making all these biblical admonition a reality on our lives.  In the Christian life there is only one source of power – the indwelling Holy Spirit.  There is only one means of releasing that source – faith in the Righteousness of God.

  1. Practice Bold Faith. Lk 10:19-20

I believe that sometimes we are confronted by issues that by  simply believing won’t be enough.  We need to be discerning and realize that they are attacks from Satan to take us out.  We need to go into the offensive by using all the spiritual weapons bestowed to us in Christ.  Bold faith combines determination with spiritual aggression that produces courage. Bold faith releases supernatural power.  Bold faith cause us to be persistent in prayer, confident in our calling, gives strength in adversity, develops godly endurance and  a heart that praises God all the time.
