Christ’ Death Ends Our Deadness

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”  John 12:24

Introduction

It is imperative to acknowledge while commemorating ‘Good Friday’  that the problem of everyone’s  deadness  has been resolved by the death of Jesus Christ.  In the passage above, Jesus said that He would become a grain of wheat. This is  because once He dies and rises from the dead, many can receive eternal life by believing in Him as the Savior. If Jesus did not fall on the ground and die, He would remain as a grain and the problem of sin and death can never be resolved. However, this is possible only for those who believe that Jesus had already received the sins of the world through His baptism from John the Baptist at the River Jordan. The Gospel Truth declares that Jesus was baptized and died on the cross to bear the condemnation of sin and death.

Jesus’ death ends our deadness by His baptism, death and resurrection.

  1. Jesus’ Death Resolved The Problem Of Sin

True believers in God’s Righteousness that constitutes Jesus’ baptism and death must realize that Jesus came to accomplish the task of washing away the sins of the world.  To resolve the problem of sin, Jesus took our lifetime of sin once and for all at His baptism and paid the wages of sin in our place by bleeding to death on the cross.  It is by believing in this Gospel Truth that we can resolve our problem of sin and receive true salvation by grace through faith in Christ.  Rom 5:12;  Ps 51:5

  1. Jesus’ Death Resolved The Problem Of Death

True believers in God’s Righteousness that constitutes Jesus’ baptism and death must realize that Jesus came to this earth in flesh and blood  so that He may destroy the power of death through His own death.  Unbelief in this word of Truth will cause one to live in spiritual deadness throughout one’s lifespan.  Jesus’ death destroyed Satan who had the power of death.  Now we who believe are released from the fear of death and eternal  judgment  by  faith  in  Christ  finished  work.  Heb 2:14-15

There are countless people who profess faith in Christ but sadly die without solving the problem of sin and death in their lifetime.  Unless the problem of sin and death is resolved in Christ, one cannot avoid but be constantly worried because of its consequences and suffering. This is the outcome of one’s deadness (godless life). This deadness of life can only be resolved by faith in Jesus’ baptism and death that washed away our sin.  1 Cor 15:22-23

Conclusion

Dear beloved, on this special day in our Christian faith, let us be founded in Christ by believing that Jesus’ death has truly resolved our problem of sin and death.  Jesus has given new and eternal life for those who believe.

Has your problem of sin and death been resolved as we commemorate Jesus’ death?  Friends, only Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection is able to resolve the issue of sin and death in our lives before we meet Jesus.
