Supernatural Transformation

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive,   and gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) Eph 4: 7-10

Introduction

There are many true believers who are sincere about wanting to live an upright life in Christ.  Unfortunately, due to lack of knowledge in the Word, many depend on self effort to change themselves.

True change only comes about when we are born again by faith in the Righteousness of God that comprises Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection.

When one repents correctly and establishes his/her faith in the Righteousness of God, the transformation becomes supernatural.   To many Christians, repentance refers to having an altar call where people come forward and weep to get right with God.  In actual fact, the word repentance means ‘re’ to go back and ‘pent’ means top.  Repentance means to go back to God’s perspective on reality.  Supernatural transformation renews our intellect, emotions and will so that we are able to experience the Kingdom power.  Without proper repentance and faith in the Righteousness of God, one would remain locked into carnal ways of thinking.

How To Experience Supernatural Transformation?

Let us glean Eph  4:7-10 to identify three principles that involves  a life that is transformed supernaturally by God’s Righteousness.

  1. All Believers In God’s Righteousness Can Transform v7

To every true believer, Jesus gives spiritual capacity and ability for change through the indwelling Holy Spirit.  He works in us according to His power so that we can become a conduit of His goodness in the lives of others.  God re-wires our inner being so that we are channels through whom He can work. This supernatural empowerment enables us

to strengthen, encourage and  guide  others.   When  we are  spiritually  transformed by  His  grace through faith in His Righteousness, God causes us to be effective  and  significant  impact  for Jesus’ sake.  Jesus acts out of His own generosity, exactly tailoring His gift of grace to fit our personality.  This serving grace will not be a strain on us.  It meshes with our unique personality to bring about God’s glory and great joy in our life.  True transformation occurs from inside out.

  1. Believers’ Transformation Is Secured By Jesus v8-10

Verse 8 takes us to an OT quotation from Psalms 68.  It bases on God’s eternal intention  to give the gifts of grace to each believer through Christ.  We cannot understand what this verses means in Eph 4:8-10 unless we grasp what Psalms 68 meant in its context.  David wrote it and drew from the knowledge  of military strategy in celebrating the triumph of God over Israel’s enemies.  Now, Paul in Eph 4:8-10 describes a procession led by Jesus.  A tremendous battle has been won by our Lord.  He took down the full force of the world’s sin, death and contended with the one behind both,  Satan himself and his armies.  In response to this, Col 2:15 tells us that God “disarmed the rulers and authorities.” A reference to a powerful triumph that disgraced the vanquished foe in public display.  Jesus led in his procession, the shattered forces of the enemy.  ‘He gave gifts to people’ means that Jesus gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to serve His Righteousness and Church.

  1. It Is Time To Act On The Truth

All of us have seen what happens when it rains hard.   Water finds the path of least resistance by which to flow to the lowest point.  How do you stop water from  flowing down the path of least resistance?  Unbelief.  Only a lowly heart accepts God’s Word and acts on the Truth.  We must be aware that all of us were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death.  Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in the new way of life.  Rom 6:3-4.  Supernatural transformation takes place only in a heart that acts on the Truth that is planted in one’s heart.

Dear friends, the Christian life is truly a demonstration of a transformed life.  It is God’s desire that at NCCkl supernatural transformation is evident in all our lives.
