Glory On Display

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 4:1-6

Jesus  is  the  very  image  and  the  radiance  of the glory of God.  Heb 1:3.  In conjunction with Parents’ Day celebration,  our Youth Undivided are called to display the glory of God by way of acting and preaching. They would endeavor to showcase to us the correct understanding of repentance, serving, worship and deliverance according to God’s Word.

Today, when it comes to the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ and His believers, many are blind.  They do not see the beauty and glory of Christ and show utter disregard to the mighty works of God.

In 2 Cor 4:1-6,  Paul describes 3 things that we need to do in order to display the glory of Christ.

  1. REFUSE To Distort The Word of God vs 1-2

In vs 2, Paul refers to the methods of other teachers and preachers of his day who used any means necessary to gather a following.  1 Cor 1:20-25.  This of course meant altering their messages   and   merely   tickling  the  ears  of  the  hearers.   Paul renounced their deceitful and shameful ways.  Paul did not edit God’s Word.  He announced it by an ‘open display of the truth’.  The message remained the same for everyone who heard it.  Often, we too are tempted to adjust the Gospel of God’s righteousness and make it more palatable to the hearers.  We may feel that we are making headway but without hearing the truth of Jesus’ baptism and death, none is going to be saved and sanctified for the glory of God.

  1. RECOGNIZE The Work Of The Devil vs 3-4

There are numerous reasons why many are reluctant to embrace the Gospel of God’s righteousness that contains Jesus’ baptism and death. Pride, love of pleasure, fear and moralism could be listed as factors for unbelief.  In vs 4, Paul highlights  the work of the ‘god of this age’  who blinds the minds of the unbelievers from seeing the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ as the main factor. The devil fights for his own glory and will do anything to prevent people from seeing the glory of Christ. When someone fails to respond to our beautiful Gospel despite our efforts to convince them, we have a tendency  to doubt the message, approach and even the messenger. Often blindness to the Gospel is caused by the power and authority that we cannot see. Eph 6:12.  Even though we have the greatest message of salvation we cannot be oblivious to the existence of the greatest enemy in the person of the devil.  Devil distorts God’s work.

  1. REST In The Power Of God vs 5-6

In vs 5-6, Paul reminds the believers that only God can save man from spiritual death.   In the beginning God made light shine out of darkness  Gen 1:1-3,  likewise  it is God Who opens the  blind eyes to the light of the glory of Christ and the Gospel of God’s righteousness.  Our call is simple, just preach the beautiful Gospel of Jesus’ baptism and death with a pure heart, clear conscience and sincere faith.  The rest is for God to do.  We cannot open blind eyes.  We cannot create new creatures in Christ.  We cannot give life to the spiritually dead people.  Only God can and we must rest in His power.

Dear friends at NCCkl, we do not exist for ourselves.  We simply exist to display the glory of Christ by our lives.
