The Wonderful Name 0f Jesus

9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.   Phil 2:9-11

There is more power in the name ‘Jesus’ than in any other word ever uttered from the lips of God or man. When we use His name in prayer, God the Father knows all that that name encompasses and the riches it has made available to the one who uses it in faith.

When we declare that wonderful Name in telling the good news of salvation to people today and when they come to believe what that Name has done for them, they are turned from darkness to light.  However, there is a realm of spiritual existence that is more aware of the power in that Name than any other sphere and that is Satan’s domain. When a believer, knowing he is seated in the position of authority in Christ in the heavenlies, uses that Name on Satan or demons, they must back off. They are terrified of His Name because it represents to them their humiliating defeat at Jesus’ resurrection.

A born again believer in the water and Spirit who uses the name of Jesus is constantly reminded of the conquest of Satan through Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection. This victory in Christ enables us to be conquerors because of His Name. If we dare to step out from the faith in the baptism and death of Christ and try to battle Satan in our own strength, we are in for a trouble. Jesus is the victor and as we abide in Him and draw upon His power and count upon His victory, He delegates it to us. If we dare to draw upon our own power and authority, we will be no match for Satan.

The only place of safety is the heavenly throne itself. It is located ‘far above’ the enemy camp and as long as we are mentally abiding there, we can’t be touched. Satan will employ every possible trick to get us to step down from the heavenlies and deal with him ourselves.  However, if we are walking in the Spirit, our normal daily lives will be lived with the awareness that we are seated with Christ in His position of authority and power.

Each morning as we are awakened to the new day, we need to put on our armor and take our seat with Christ. This will enable us to use the name of Jesus to overcome any obstacles that we encounter.  More so, we need to also remind ourselves that we have victory over the world, the flesh and the devil through the wonderful name of Jesus. Personally, I would reaffirm my life commitment daily in Jesus Name and authorise the Holy Spirit to control me moment by moment.

May God use the wonderful Name of Jesus to liberate us and bring new freedom to our lives and new hope for the future. Remember our victory cry which Jesus shouted from the cross – ‘It is Finished!’.Tetelestai!
