What Wavelength Are You On?

Our whole system of thought has one fatal presupposition. “You can cure all of man’s ills by changing or manipulating his environment.” The centre of Jesus Christ’s teaching was that man’s problem is in his very heart and nature and that you can only heal man by giving him an inner transformation, a new nature. Such a thing is possible only by miraculous working of God’s power called “the new birth.” Jesus explained that man must be born spiritually because he is born to this world with a vacuum at the centre of his being. He has physical life by which he can relate to the phenomena of this world but he is without a spiritual dimension through which he can know God personally.
It is important for us to be aware of how Satan is using art, music, philosophy, education and mass media to entice us away from God’s view of life. I think it is about time that we realise what is meant in James 4:4 “you adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” Why does James use the word “adulteresses”? If you have personally believed in the Gospel of the water and Spirit and accepted forgiveness from Him, you are married to Christ in a spiritual sense. When you go back to the world’s way, figuratively you are committing adultery.
The world is a real battlefield in the area of our minds and affections. We need the Spirit of God to give us careful discernment about what we allow to dwell in our minds. This is why the Scripture says “do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
If we think we can get into these deceptive things of the world and still remain on intimate terms with God, we are deluding ourselves. We won’t lose our relationship with God but we will get so disoriented spiritually that we cannot think God’s thoughts. We can’t be intimate with God when our affections are dominated by the world. We are on a different wavelength. When Jesus told us we are to be in the world but not of it, He meant that we are not to cop out but to reject the world’s hold on our affections and mental attitudes. Then we can be part of the solution for the world instead of part of the problem.
Jesus Christ is not a concept of truth, He is the Truth. That is why He is the only one Who can set us free from the established world order. He is the only one who can give us the freedom to find the full potential that God intended us to have. He is the only one Who can give meaning and purpose to life.
