Why we are no longer sinners
Thursday, June 21st, 2012
Dear friends, our belief and faith must be rested firmly on the Truth of the Scriptures. “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32. This is the basis and the backbone of christian faith. A lack of understanding on this matter may weaken our spiritual life of faith. A mere profession , “I believe in Jesus, the Son of God”, is an inadequate knowledge of Jesus. The Scripture says, “He was in the world and the world was made through Him.” In accordance to this Word, Jesus is the creator of Man and the universe.
Satan tempted Adam and Eve and they fell into sin. The consequences of their fall led the Devil to become the ruler of mankind. This resulted in man being under the dominion and submission of the Devil.
However, when Jesus came to this earth, He accepted all the sins of mankind by being baptized and offered His body to be crucified. The sins of mankind was once and for all crucified in the body of Jesus on the cross. This righteous act of Jesus provided eternal redemption for all mankind. Satan’s dominion over man was once and for all destroyed through the baptism, death and resurrection of Jesus.
The absolute finished work of Christ has once and for all rendered man sinless and righteous by faith in the sight of God.
We are now no longer sinners. We are no longer doomed to be condemned and destined to hell. As such, man regained his right standing with God and was restored to his original state. This restoration was even better as man was elevated to be God’s own children. Only unbelief in this eternal Truth can prevent one from receiving his/her free gift of salvation.
Satan was judged when Jesus was condemned on the cross. Jesus recovered all the authority of heaven and earth through His resurrection. This victory over Satan by Jesus on behalf of mankind provided perfect salvation for sinners.
He then ascended to heaven and sent us the Holy Spirit in His place. It is written, “however, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come. He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority but whatever He hears, He will speak and He will tell you things to come.” John 16:13
When the Spirit of Truth comes, He would lead us into all truth. The Holy Spirit has indeed come into the hearts of all those who have received the remission of sins by believing in Jesus baptism, death and resurrection. The Holy Spirit will then convict us of our righteousness in Christ. Such conviction help us to realize how beautifully we have been saved and empowers us to live upright lives.
